Changes to Google Storage Policy
Google has announced a change to their storage policy for Google Workspace for Education customers which includes the University of 69É«ÇéƬ. Effective July 2022, Google will be limiting the amount of storage available to the University for those who are using Google.

Don't lose work-related files
If the hard drive on your computer fails, the files on that drive would be lost. Information Technology Services (ITS) technicians may not be able to perform data recovery and restoration on local computer drives.

Reminder: Use VPN when off-campus to access all on-campus systems
Information Technology Services (ITS) has been working to identify systems impacted by the recently announced "Log4Shell" vulnerability that is associated with a logging tool known as Log4j. Multiple systems across campus, including user workstations, lab computers and some servers, are leveraging software that utilizes Log4j.

Network maintenance on Dec. 19
On Sunday, Dec. 19, from 8-11 a.m., the network team will perform maintenance that will impact access to University servers during the maintenance. Questions regarding this process can be addressed for the network team.

Changes to third-party email configuration
Beginning Feb. 1, 2022, Information Technology Services will be changing the configuration for third-party email services. Those services that are not reported to IT, will likely be filtered as spam.

Network and security changes for department services
Information Technology Services (ITS) continues to vacate current IP addresses by March 2022. As a result, all departmental servers not currently in the Computer Center will need to be migrated to new IP addresses if they have not been migrated already.

Migration of Personal Folders to OneDrive

Eduroam WiFi and Virtual Labs
Information Technology Services has implemented several resources to support online learning for anyone displaced by COVID-19. ITS has added wireless network coverage to the Computer Center parking lot (Lot 34), allowing students, especially at-risk students, to have access to secure Wi-Fi via eduroam in a safe and physically-distanced manner.

On a soon to be announced date, Jamf Connect will be rolled out to all mac users on campus. Jamf Connect integrates with our current Jamf management software to synchronize your local account passwords with your UANet password through our cloud identity provider.
